This 8" F4.5 mirror started as a pre-generated blank from Newport. After checking the radius, I made a grinding tool with ceramic tile and dental plaster. Mirrors this small don't work well on my big grinding machine, so I fabricated this mirror "old-school" using hand work on my powered turntable. This blank had a good pre-gen, so I went right to 25-micron Microgrit AlOx for fine grinding.
For polishing, I mixed 55/64 Gugolz pitch and poured a polisher. Polishing and figuring were pretty much by-the-book, and the mirror was tested and analyzed using FigureXP. Final numbers from FigureXP were excellent, with a P-V of 1/24th-wave, and a calculated Strehl ratio of 0.99X. As usual, normal caveats apply to these FigureXP numbers.
